In June 1988, WWE debuted a new interview segment on Superstars called The Brother Love Show. Brother Love was an over the top heel televangelist character played by Bruce Prichard. An interview segment hosted by a heel character was popular with WWE fans, dating back to the popularity of Piper’s Pit in the mid 1980s. Brother Love soon became a character WWE fans loved to hate.

Love was often in the middle of key WWE angles while always siding with the heels. He was closely associated with top heel personalities Bobby ‘the Brain’ Heenan and The Brother Love Show’s rumoured financial benefactor ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase. Love was also The Undertaker's first official manager before selling his contract to Paul Bearer.

The Brother Love character was eventually pulled from WWE television for pushing the envelope one too many times. He made a brief return in the mid 1990s and has made sporadic appearances since. At its height between 1988 and 1991, The Brother Love Show was an unsung hero in pushing angles and getting over talent in WWE.
